5 Days Lhasa City Tour - The Roof top of the World

Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street, Norbulingka Park, Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery are mainly visitors centre for tourist.
It is designed who does not have enough holiday Lhasa short holiday vacation in Tibet. You fly or drive across the Himalaya to Lhasa, where you have plenty of time to visit the main sights in and around the town including the Potala Palace, the Norbulingka (the Dalai Lama’s summer palace) and the Jorkhang Temple which contains Jowo Shakyamuni, the most holy statue to all Tibetan Buddhists. You also visit the major monasteries in the Lhasa Valley including Samye, Drepung and Sera. You then drive along the Friendship Highway to Nepal, one of the most spectacular road journeys in the world. You visit the towns and monasteries in both Gyantse and Shigatse and then have a spectacular drive across the Tibetan Plateau with great views of Everest from the north side and Shishapangma, the only 8,000m mountain situated totally in Tibet. Finally you drive through the Himalaya and down into a spectacular gorge back to Nepal and Kathmandu. You can also fly back from Lhasa to Kathmandu.

Detail Itinerary of 5 Days Lhasa City Tour

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m.)
You will be received by our representatives and will be transferred to hotel. After checking into our rooms, stay Overnight in hotel Kathmandu.


Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing tour.

Half day Kathmandu valley sightseeing tour of three places: Kathmandu: Swayambu Nath Stupa, famous hindu Temple of Pashupatinath and buddhist pilgrims of Bouddhanath Stupa , Overnight at hotel.


Day 03: Arrive in Lhasa (3650m.)

Fly from kathmandu to Lhasa (3650m) by air. Transfer to hotel overnight stay at hotel .our local English-speaking tour guide and private van, then, transfer you to the hotel (3 star hotel ).

 

Day 04: Lhasa sightseeing tour of three places: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor street.
In the morning to visit the famous Potala palace and explore the mythical halls, exhibition chambers, figures of the Buddha. As the symbol of Tibet, it was built in 641 AD and was the winter palace of Dalai Lama . Impressive Tibetan architecture, huge golden Buddha statues, red-robed lamas and devoted pilgrims all make it a must-visit. In the afternoon, visit to the holy Monastry in Tibet – the Jokhang Monastry, which was built during songtsen gompo’s period by princess of wencheng in Great Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD).The circular pilgrim way around Jokhang Monastry is named barkhor and later flourished, forming the embryo of the city. The barkhor market is one of the most famous sites throughout Tibet, and it is the ideal place to buy traditional Tibetan artifacts, religious implements, antiques, books, Tibetan music instrument, Thangkas, and traditional Tibetan clothes, etc.


Day 05: Lhasa sightseeing tour of two places: Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery.

Full day Lhasa sightseeing tour,Drepung monastery was established by Jamyang Choeje in 1416. It lies at the foot of a holy mountain. It was used to the home of 10,000 monks and it was the centre government before fifth dalai lama.Then the government was moved to the famous Potala palace. later on, you can also visit the Nechung monastery which located 1km southeast of Drepung and is the abode of the protector deity pehar and the seat of the state Oracle of Tibet. In the afternoon, go on visiting to the Sera monastery which was founded in 1419 by Jamchen Choeje (a follower to Songtsen Gonpo). The highlight is that the Monk debate is held there in the courtyard at around 6:00-7:30.

 

Day 06: Lhasa sightseeing tour : Norbulingka Monastery, Tibetan Museum and Tibetan Traditional Medical Center.
Norbulingkha is Tibetan word, meaning “treasure garden” , it lies at western suburb of Lhasa with about 2km from Potala palace, and it was listed as the world cultural heritage by the UNESCO. The Norbulingkha is called summer palace and which was built by the seventh Dalai lama in the mid of 18th century. Later on, the successive Dalai lamas studied and lived during the summer times. Then move into the Tibet Museum which locates close to Norbulingkha, in which you will discover the history of Tibet, the important cultural and historical relic of Tibet and Tibetan Buddhism. In the afternoon, walking to the Ramoche temple which lies about 500 meters to the north of the Jokhang monastery. The magnificent sculpture of Sakyamuni was built in the Ramoche monastery.

Day 07: Lhasa departure (by train or air).
Hotel check-out & pick-up by your guide and driver again, then transfer you to the airport or train station, lovely tour ends!
